Driver Eligibility

To rent a vehicle in Tunisia, there are fundamental legal requirements as well as specific agency policies that ensure every driver is qualified and safe on the road.

Tunisian Legal Minimum

At the very least, any person wishing to drive a rental car must comply with the national law:

  • Age: You must be at least 18 years old.
  • License: You must hold a valid driving license that is recognized in Tunisia.

Agency Specific Policies

While the law sets the baseline, individual agencies often have their own requirements depending on the car category (e.g., luxury or high-performance vehicles):

  • Minimum Age: Some agencies or specific car models may require the driver to be 21, 23, or even 25 years old.
  • License Maturity: Agencies often require that you have held your driving license for a minimum period (usually 1 or 2 years) before you can rent.

Check the terms

Each car listing on Rod clearly displays the specific eligibility criteria set by the agency.

  • Driver Profile: Make sure your age and license seniority match the requirements of the chosen vehicle.
  • Verification: The agent will verify these documents physically during the contract signing. If you do not meet the criteria, the agency may be legally unable to provide the vehicle.

Check the requirements, bring your documents, and you're good to go.
