The Security Deposit

The security deposit, commonly known as "The Caution," is a fundamental part of the rental agreement. It acts as a safety guarantee for the agency while the vehicle is in your possession.

Why a deposit?

The deposit serves as security to cover potential costs that may arise during the rental, such as:

  • Uninsured damage: Minor scratches or interior issues.
  • Operational gaps: Missing fuel or traffic violations.
  • Contractual security: It ensures both parties respect the terms of the rental.

Flexible amounts

The specific amount is set by each agency for every individual car offer.

  • Transparency: You will see the required deposit clearly displayed before you book.
  • Negotiation: Many of our partner agencies are open to discussion. Depending on your driver profile or chosen insurance tier, the deposit amount or method may be negotiable during the confirmation call or at pickup.

Handling the deposit

Since Rod is a connection platform, the deposit is handled directly between you and the professional:

  • Direct Payment: You provide the deposit to the agent when signing the physical contract.
  • Full Return: The amount is returned or released by the agency once the vehicle is inspected and confirmed to be in the same condition as provided.

A simple security measure for a professional and trusted rental experience.
